Subject - nj electrical contractor exam
gftodd I am still trying to locate someone who can help me with the NJ fire alarm code portion of the test. The NJ contractors exam is broke down to 3 tests .The electrical contractor portion (NEC), The NJ electrical business portion & the fire alarm portion . I am trying to locate study aids for the fire alarm portion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
gftodd Thanks to all who read my question. After lots of research and a little luck I finally found information that will help with alarm portion of Nj electrical contractor test. Anyone interested can find this information on www.contractorexam.com
JimmyDee Thanks for that information. I see a trend in this country to make the electrical contractor responsible for fire alarm equipment. It seemed reasonable to have the electrician install the fire alarms in a house but all our training was on high voltage (over 49 volts) and there was little if anything written in the NEC about fire or burglar alarm equipment.
Some of this stuff is now being Incorporated in the NEC but there is still a long ways to go. Most of this equipment is installed by low voltage installers and was never inspected.
I got a red flag on the last house I did because of the low voltage installation. Was told it was my responsibility. Seems like things are changing and we will all need training in this area real quick.
