I have a 1977 onan generator 40 kv 3 phase how do i get 240 single phase all my legs read 112 or 208 on any pair thanks frank

on some generators they have multi wire hook up there. and you have to look at the name plate and wireing connetions to change over to delta connection but bear in mind some generators cant change over to delta due the winding inside of the generator. i work on few of them some have 6 leads some have 9 leads and some have 12 leads but as i say again please check the wiring digram to make sure.

do i am very good in dirgrams so if u can send the dirgram to me i will help u out , convacting the 3 phase alternator to single phase , is like condemming 2 phase of the motor from pabec name peter

| You could use the low-voltage side of a 15 kva pot as an autotransformer. Cover up the high-side connections and connect the pot neutral to the gen neutral. Connect any one of the 120 legs (and only one) to one side of the pot secondary. Use both sides of the pot secondary and the neutral for a 60-amp 120/240 single-phase service. You will not be able to utilize the full capability of the gen but you can get the above service.
