	Subject - substation komaraiah dear all what is the purpose of using gravel in the substation JimmyDee Its used for drainage and not producing mud and is cheaper than concrete. Jim YukonRay That sounds about right to me! :-) aussiesparky Some of our subs at work have a concrete bund in the ground around the transformers, so the gravel also allows any spilt oil to be collected.
