Subject - lighting and recepticles
detrolakid I need to know if anyone can tell me what the maximum of amount of highhat incondescent lights can be mounted on a 25 amp circuit with 100watt light bulbs being used ? also How many duplexrecepticals is the maximum amount that an inspector will accept in one room These days I have people asking me if you can add more recepticales to there walls and they already have one on each wall.? Thanks ahead of time
Ryan_J What size wire is on this 25 amp circuit?
JimmyDee Be nice Ryan.
Jim
David Hyatt In commercial, the amount in one room is not relevant. Each general purpose outlet unless specified different in NEC is to counted as 180va. 20amp x 120volt= 2400/180va= 13 receptacles per 20amp circuit. What type of of wire on 25 amp breaker? Will the lights be on more than 3 hours if so it will be a continous load.

Oh...alright
Ryan_J David: Considering that this is posted in the residential section, I would assume the 180VA won't apply. Also, I consider lights to be a continuos load always, but thats just me. I don't know how you could prove to me that no one will forget to turn off the lights :)
cs409 Ryan, you know there isnt a woman in this country that forgets to turn off lights, and ORRRRRRRRR my stinking antique coffee percolator(aka, same model as on leave it to beaver)..... and do be nice, you will live much longer :),,,, just repaired the keys on my key board,,,they seem to spell words wrong!
David Hyatt I was in a hurry this morning and was thinking this was commercial. When he said high hat lights I was thinking high bay, was rushing. My apologies.
David Hyatt By the way my wife leaves curling iron on all the time. Stove too. I have to check behind her constantly.
JimmyDee My wife buys the kind that shut off after a certain amount of time. Coffee pot goes off after 2 hrs. Got a great wife.
Jim
cs409 my wife is the best........just doesnt know how to turn off some items :)....... to be honest, she is the one that found the percolator in mint condition at Goodwill thrift store.......if yall noticed, i fixed the spelling!
SteveMc I've been threatening to put occupancy switches in my son's bedroom. when I told him, he asked, "What's a switch?"

I do not have to prove it, you will have to prove they will be continuous.

FWIW, All circuits I run I think of continuous, but in commercial that is mostly true.

SteveMc test
cs409 test what?
Jeremy I believe the 3 hour/continuous use lighting if for theatres. Most shows are under 3 hours.
macmikeman As long as the wife leaves the motor running all the time , we shouldn't complain.
