Is it permissible to use HCFC (hosptial grade mc) cable on emergency circuits in a ambulatory surgical center (outpatient center.)?

| I'm not sure about this cable. After an exhaustive reading of article 517. I can tell you that unless this cable is considered a mineral sheathed cable qualifying as Type MI the answer is no. Except in the case where a flexible connection to equipment is necesary. The reason is that it doesn't meet the requirements of Article 517-30(c)3 Mechanical Protection of the Emergency System. The mentioned article says you have to use nonflexible metal raceways or Type MI cable in emergency systems of hospitals. Hope that helps.

| Scott found the clincher, (517-30(c)3. Now "emmkkk", are you installing Line Isolation Monitoring panels (LIMS) in the surgery suites? Why or why not?
