My "Shop" is a 10x20 self storage locker near my house. I buy items in bulk and store them here in addition to tools, scaffolds, etc. I maintain a database of my inventory so I don't buy things I already have. I buy in quantity from SunStar, RT Electric, etc.

| What can we learn from you about the relative cost of banquet tables stacked up compared to the heavy yellwo steel shelving? Thanks for the pict-sures.

15k sq. ft ~ I might think about buying it now, too.
How is the price of copper going to effect that bid?
I like the self-storage idea...we can all use another write-off :)

| Celt, I've nearly depleted my stash of Romex. I had tens of thousands of feet but resisted buying more as prices went up. I'm starting a 15,000' house in a month or two and will have to buy, I should buy today because indications are the price will rise, but I'm hoping that the investment funds that bought copper and drove the price up will sell off copper and I will swoop in and buy when it hits bottom. Either that or I'll win the lottery and get out of electrical.
The storage locker is in one of those big self storage facilities, mine is unusual in that it's 20' tall, so I can grow upward. The security is very good, electric gate operated from a keypad, cameras everywhere, it impenetrable. Mine is on the ground floor with a roll up door so I can drive right up to it. The facility is only open from 7am to 7pm but once they discovered I was Romex Racer, they gave me 24 hour access in the computer. I don't have any special insurance, the buildings are all metal, so there's no fire risk, theft is extremely unlikely, so that pretty much leaves meteor strike risk, so I feel really secure. I pay $225 per month.

| What's the rental on a 10x20 in your area? Any security issues? Any special insurance you carry for such a facility?

| I am suprised at your monthly rent, especially given the overhead hieght. I rented a 10 x 30 a couple years ago, and that was close to $200 for a marginally secure, mouse infested rathole.
