Do i install a GFI 20amp receptacle? or is direct wired? If direct wired than I assume GFI breaker for protection right?

| Hydromassage bathtubs and associated components must be protected by a GFCI. All receptacles in a bathroom need to be GFCI protected. All the metal piping if any, electrical equipment metal parts and pump motor must be bonded together with a #8 solid copper wire. Unless the motor or equipment is labeled to be double insulated. If something is double insulated then it must not be bonded. If the motor came with a plug on the end of the cord then, yes have a GFCI receptacle installed. If you need to direct wire it use a GFCI breaker.

| Scott, you mentioned double insulated motors before. Will you explain why not to bond them.

Scott Vickrey
| You don't bond double insulated equipment because doing so will defeat the double insulation protection. See section 680.26(B)(4).

| Scott: I think the appropriate section would be 680.74, but it does say the same thing.

| I see the code ref. but don't understand the thoery behind it. I guess double insulated has no chance of becoming inergized? What would it hurt to bond it ?
