Subject - Garage wiring
Jakewamp Need alittle guidence. The outlets in my garage where fine until I had some drywall work done. Then the outlet on one wall quit working. It tested to have low voltage, also light in center comes on but dim. The guy who did the work ( an out of work realitive who needed some money ) also added an out let on a new wall infront of the door. Ive already removed that wire but others are still low. I suspect he may have run a drywall screw through a wire causing a break somewhere. Is there anyway to determine if this is true and if so where the break could be. Hope this is enough info.
Thanks
Jake

Ive already went back to the sourse of the new outlet and disconectd it but voltage on two remaining outlets and light remain low. Will check with tracer and let ya know
Thanks
JimmyDee I would borrow a ticker tracer (an electronic device that beeps when close to an electrical field) from someone. There are small pocket sized one that you can purchas cheep. Check the patch areas where the screws were put in. Maybe it will beep at that point. If he did some electrical work, I would suspect that first. It sounds like there is something in series with the circuit not a cut or broken wire.
Jim
David Hyatt I agree with Jim, it is probably the added outlet, check where he got power from first.
Electricman Sounds like either a screw in a wire or the neutrals are connected wrong check your new wiring for loose connections.
