Subject - Speaker noise (popping and static)
drumhead I have noticed a pronounced "popping" noise produced on a friend's computer speakers when a light switch is turned on in a room adjacent to the room where his computer is kept. Any ideas on what might be causing this? His speakers also produce an intermitant static that sounds almost like a sparking noise, for no apparent reason. We have tested the speakers and computer in different rooms and different outlets throughout his house and have not been able to reproduce the problem in any other room. We also tried using a different computer with a different set of speakers in the problem room and got the same results (static and popping). His home is approximately (2) years old. Any help is appreciated.
stedder try unplugging any low voltage wires from the back of the computer (phone, ethernet and /or coaxial cable one at a time and see if this makes a diff (and note if any) may be interference with the line voltage circuitry somewhere along the line.
