Subject - Building a customer base

I've been in business for approx. 3 years doing HVAC and electrical work. Recently, I've been getting a lot of electrical jobs and I enjoy the work. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to build a broader customer base in this field. To date, I have advertised in the Yellow pages and the local Pennysaver and haven't had very good results. Most of my business has come from word of mouth. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
