Subject - Outlet Wiring
Catlovr The electrician forgot to wire a 110 for the gas dryer. Now wants to change the single outlet to a double outlet for gas dryer plug. I was told that the dryer and washer should not be on the same plug?
Feed back please.
lctrc789 Actually many homes are built for one laundry circuit...( ONE 120 volt) recpt. that is used for both the washer and Gas dryer at the same time.
It is not and has not been uncommon, and IMO I don't think you will have a problem if they are a 20 amp circuit as they should be.
JimmyDee NEC and good wiring practice allows one duplex receptacle on a dedicated 20 amp circuit for both the washer and dryer.

stedder And the draw from the gas dryer will be minimal.
