In the 96/99 code book you were to use a 20 amp recept. for the bathroom that could only be used in conjuction with another bathroom. In the residential area that I am now working we are using recept and lighting for a bathroom together. Is this common practice or has the code changed????

| In my area, it has always been ok for the bathroom circuit to provide for all loads in that bathroom, no appearances of that circuit anywhere else. receptacles, lights, fan, heater, etc. I havent heard of one circuit for 2 bathrooms. Maybe that has always been allowed, in my area.

| You can feed all of the receptacle outlets in all of the bathrooms, or you can feed everything in one and only one bathroom. 210.11

| I have been working commercial for the past few years and I have just got back into residential. We ran 1 circuit for Bathroom - one B/R designated as the line side of a GFI - whether it it be 1, 2, 3 B/R's in house - was able to share that circuit - the logic contrator wise is that you could buy only 1 GFI and regular recept's in the other B/R's. As for the lighting it shares w/other lighting circuit except for the shower light which had to be on a faceless GFI. Now bathroom shares power and lighting except for HVL's which has it's own circuit.

Are you saying that this is 2002 code that bathroom GFI can share w/ lighting circuit. This will also take care of shower lights?

| Sparky2, Check out 210.11(3) and 210.23(A) when using the GFCI to supply the lighting in a bathroom. Remember that circuit can only supply 1 bathroom when its a GFCI/Lighting combo circuit, the circuit cannot supply another bathroom.

Yep, pretty much, as long as the circuit doesn't leave the bathroom.
