Subject - Appliance help?
sparkie2170 Does anyone here do appliance repair? I have a GE Spectra XL44 gas range that keeps giving an F2 error code when the oven is on. I've replaced the temp. sensor, but the error continues. I want to have a tech come out, but my wife wants to know why I can wire houses but cant fix a stove!
Alfred It's a technology unto itself.
Thanks Alfred Johnson
stedder Tell your wife you're better off out in your field making money instead of spending time on repairs best left to someone who has all the right test equipment and parts right on the truck.
WELLSEROUSKI ELECTRONICS my friend..My old roommate was an appliance tech. I will never get in that biz.
One word applies ( electrostatic surge stress, upon reading top secrect repair manuals the controls for the appliance usually originate frome the electronic board. Even though the appliance may function properly the manuals say replace control boards as a fix as the sensors that feed the board info. may be fine and they usually do have test protocals for the sensors but under working loads the board MIGHT malfunction if it ever had electrostactic stress at any time and it may not malfunction consistantly. Ah the world of electronics. :)Ever get that jolt getting out of your car in very low humidity?? and your right Alfred.
sparks27 sparkie, I worked on a few ge electric ovens and their should be a schematic inside behind the control board.? if not try removing the ribbon cable for 30 sec. power off of course! then reinstall cable at control panel. turn on and see if the code clears. the schematic has procedures for different codes..f-7...f-2.etc. hope this helps
sparkie2170 I don't know who sent the email about making sure the temp sensor connections passed through the insulation, but THANKS A MILLION!!! I took the back off, pulled the connection through, and viola! the oven works great!! Thanks again.
luckyshadow Anybody know that the manufactors switch the neutral on the oven light ? I have an electric GE Range that this is done on. Anybody care to guess how I found out ?
