Subject - 6-way light switching?
remarkable What is the best wiring method to switch lighting from 5 locations?
Ryan_J two three ways and 3 four ways.
blackrd I would agree with Ryan without having any more detail to the question. What application in a residence would require a swiching set-up such as this?
Electricman blackrd, It is quite common in larger residences to have this many switches in a circuit.
remarkable This is switching for existing fluorescent lighting in a residental 2-car garage with lots of doors.
lctrc789 This is kind of common in many larger homes, I just finshed a home with 6 switches 2 3ways and 4 4 ways for flood lights. The only way to do it easily and cheaply is 3 ways and 4 wyas without getting to extravagant.
blackrd Thank you, I personally havent run across a circuit with that many switches on it. But Im sure i eventually will. I remember 12 years ago a multi-plex system (I dont remember the manufacturer) that could accomplish the same thing without a lot of wires. It never materialized in residential applications. With home automation it would probably be obsolete anyhow.
remarkable Thanks for the info everyone
