Hi, I just bought a new resi-tester from Fry's Electronics and have no idea on how to use it?? I tried reading the directions with no avail. I'm a beginning electrician down here in Sacramento, CA.
Can somebody tell me how I'm supposed to use this thing to test phone lines, cable runs, network cable etc.. I'm really interested in learning how to test phone lines so please elaborate on that.
Thanks, John A.

| You have a lot of questions on this web site as to basic basic electrical knowledge that an electricican would know. You have posted many questions on many different subjects on this site and am wondering as to you job title and what kind of company that you work for.
Safety is number ONE.

| John John I think you should know flaming and name calling is not polite, Ryan is a very experienced electrician ,code teacher, and an inspector, Would you treat an electrical inspector this way if he would show up on one of your jobs. But of coarse you would need to take out a Permit for that to happen :)

I don't want to be unpolite, but he's posting "hire an electrician" in my posts. Why would I be here if I was going to hire an electrician?

He's writing that in your post because he know's you are doing electrical work un supervised and you shouldn't be. He's an experienced electrician with years of knowledge and knows that it's "electricians" like you that are dangerous and total bad news. Do you have a license or insurance to do these side jobs of yours? If you're asking questions like this you shouldn't be doing work on anyones house unless you're working for an electrical contractor. And if you are you should ask him these questions.
