Subject - Flickering low voltage light
mattpal Hi, I have a low voltage monorail in our kitchen which I have problems with. My house is only a year old and we have replaced the kitchen light transformer 2 times already. I am confident that the one that is currently installed is operating properly, however, I suspect that the problems I am having are a deeper electrical issue. I recently noticed some new strange issues:

1. When I turn on the living room lights (6 recessed lights, 75w each, 3-way switch, on a high 18ft ceiling), the kitchen light flickers. These lights are on the same circuit.

2. The kitchen light was on the other day and the oven was on too. The oven cycled on and the kitchen light flickered once. The oven is not on the same circuit as the kitchen light.

3. When I turn off the kitchen light it does go out immediately. It takes about 1-2 seconds to dim off.

I woudl really appreciate any advice to help me troubleshoot this.

Thx,
Matt
Electricman This low voltage monorail light? Does it have a dimmer installed? Does the dimmer match the light? Magnetic ballast=Magnetic Dimmer, Electronic Ballast= Electronic Dimmer. As far as other lights affecting this fixture I would first suspect a loose connection somewhere in the circuit 1st place to check would be a loose grounded conductor in the panel. Caution if you are unsure of yourself working around electricity hire someone who is.
mattpal There is no dimmer on the kitchen light, but there is a dimmer on the 3-way living room lights on the same circuit.

thx
