Greetings Gentlemen and Ladies, How do I go about acquiring my wireman's licence if I am coming from another country in which I have been licenced?

| Check with your local city/ county and see what they require they may or may not require a test or proof of experience. You may be in an area where state licensing is required, but if you check locally they should point you in the right direction. If you are already licensed they may say that is Ok and maybe not. All states and local towns are very different. Please keep us advised.

| Thank you lctrc789, your advice is welcome. I am presently residing in Brooklyn New York, but as a newcomer to this country I am at a loss as to whom or what organization to contact. Thank God for elelctricalknowledge.com. Could you give me a site which I can visit to get this information? Or maybe the authority which I can personally go to? I may have a lot more foolish questions to ask you before 'I find my feet', so to speak.

| I would go to the phone book in your area, look up city/county permits and licensing sections. Ask them whom you need to speak with to get a license and or permits and how to go about it, in your area. Possibly it could be under building codes etc....
