Subject - Building under power lines and blocking access rd
shortya My neighbor is building a garage under power lines and over a access
road, I know it is dangerous and blocks access for the power company
to work on the power lines. do you know what the code is for building
under power lines? And he is about 2 1/2 feet from the utility pole
with a transformer.
lctrc789 Call your local utility company and have them come to see if the new garage is not hendering any rights of easements or if they are following the current local codes.
You are not saying what kind of power lines he is under etc.
Better to call them and feild document a report to see if the building is OK.
lctrc789 Well I wish you luck on this, you didn't say he was building on your property, that can be a real pain. LOL

I've contacted the utility company and they sent out a inspector, and
he said it was not a problem. So I have filed an injuction and I have
emailed the Utility Commisioner for Kentucky and OSHA, because these
are Main power lines that serves the whole community. He is also buiding on my personal property. Thank you so much for your information it was useful, Know only if I can get the utility company to enforce the code.
stedder ARound here if some one builds on your property, it's your building, right down the road somebody built a million dollar home on what they thought was their property, come to find actually owned by someone else and even though it was a real estate glitch the people could not live in their new home, the absentee landowners were able to move in free and clear (almost like they were waiting in the wings). Tell your neighbor what things you would like included in your part (or all) of the garage and see what's up!
