I am about to install a 3 pole , 3 wire socket(outlet) for my dryer. It has three screws. One for the white wire and 2 others for the other two hot wire, I am left with a brown wire though. Where should it go, Is it the ground ?????Should it go with the white wire? Do I need to hook this wire up at all? I had an old 4 wire socket outlet that I need to replace.
Help Me!!!

| i would not worry about the color of your wire. I would get a electrician. Or if you want to do it yourself get a volt meter to determine which is which

| I seriously doubt that you have a 3 pole dryer in a residentila application, two poles 4 wire 230 volts two hots one neutral one ground, in older dryers that had three wires two hots and one neutral and the neutral and the ground were bonded at the dryer frame. If you are unsure call apro and be safe.
