Subject - 3/way switches facing right side up?
Mike Delaney I've been told you can make 3/ways switches right side up (know what i'm saying?). I've had people request it. How do you do it?
kbsparky Turn one of them over Or, if you have the time, reverse the travelers on one of the switches.

I believe you are referring to when the customer wants a scenerio when all their switches are in the "down" position, all the lights are "off"

If your installation ends up with one switch up, and the other switch down (lights off), that drives some customers batty. The purpose of the 3-way switching in the first place is for convenience so the person doesn't have to go to the other side of the room to switch off the lights. Such batty customers will go to a lot of trouble to ensure all the switch handles are in the down position when the lights are off, defeating the purpose of the 3-way design....

Electricman Mike, what I do is make sure the travelers are on opposite sides that way you can still put your switches in all the same. In other words if the red traveler is on the same side as the common on one switch I just put it on the opposite traveler screw on the other switch. follow?
