Scott, thanks so much for helping me register. Intro: I am an electrician, been in the trades about nine years now, and love it, passionately. It took me ten years of thinking I was supposed to wear a skirt to work, till I found out work boots and Kleins were my life's work. This forum is a godsend for me. Health issues have kept me off a jobsite for awhile (back probs from wearing side pouch-so says docs). My Tim Allen husband tells me to "leave my toolbelt at the door"(actually, I have one on my bedpost). So, since my semi-retirement, I have re-wired my kitchen and am dodging as many old-work side jobs as I can for friends and fam. He hates for me to talk "sparky" cuz he's clueless, and I have LOVED being able to check out the residential section and live vicariously thru your posts. Hope I can contribute some, too. Thanks for being out there in cyber space. - Ladyestrogen

| Wow a female electrician! Your welcome. That's what I do. I can agree with how hard on your back being an electrician can be. Glad to have you here.

| We have several female electricians in our comapny , they can bend pipe and do as well as we do as guys, but they usually smell better, look nicer, and have better attitudes for the most part. LOL I say "Go girl" and good luck to you. Tool belts, I havent had one of them in 15 years but the work can wear you down through the years.

| HEY LADYYY listen to the doc,I've been working in the trade (with a pouch) for 20 years or so and about a y an 1/2 ago I thought I would have ta qwit but I realized once when I went away fer a week and then didn't put the tools back on for another three daze or so that I could feel my left thigh again and my lower back wasn't on fire, (took 'bout 3 mins b4 my back would start puttin' up a fuss). So now I carry my stuff around in a electricians tote kinda' thing, still miss my pouch at times (every part of the 23 pounds was soooo handy) but now I can work all day and I'm used to dealin' wid it. Problem is now my "carry all" weighs about 40 lbz. Oh well I gota helper ta git it fer me.

| Electrical work will destroy your body. Every electrician's goal should be to move into management. I'm not saying this to anybody in paticular, but we all know that over time, electrical work will erode the cartilage in your knees and back, cause early onset of arthritis in your hands and repeated electrical shocks will result in Multiple Personality Disorder and paranoid behavior.
Get away from the tools as soon as possible!

| I don't mind turnin' the tools every day's an adventure (some days you just can't find a warm spot to rest along the trail.)
