	Subject - 12/3 wiring yoloco67 How do you wire 12/3 wire in you basic electrical outlets and light switches wich have only one hot in the switch but the 12/3 wire has two hot wires. I have a couple of ideas but not sure if they are legal or safe. Mike Delaney yoloco67, Sounds like what you need is 12/2. If all you have is 12/3 either cut the red off in the box, or cap it off with a wire nut, and use the black and white conductors. kbsparky What are you trying to accomplish? Mulitwire circuits? Split-wired receptacles? Or carrying a hot line thru a ceiling fixture? How much experience do you have in the electrical trade?
