Iam upgrading a 60A service to a 100a. The problem is that I can not tell what size the existing meter is rated at. Nothing is marked on the meter itself. Is it even common for an older 60A service to have a 60A meter? Or are they usually rated for 100A min. Any ideas on how I can tell? THANKS

| Are you talking about there meter socket, or the meter? Is your intent to change out the panel only? If you are truly going to upgrade your service, I would do panel, and meter socket.

| In this area, the power company gives you a new meter box for free. I would change it just for grins if nothing else. You do realise the wire on the hot side of the meter needs to be changed also, so you may need to replace the mast on the line side of the meter. Jim
